About these prices. Figures on this page are a guide only: they are indicative from rates, based on weekday winter pricing, and were correct at the time of publishing. Rates move with the season, the day of the week and how long you book for, and longer hires taper. The live figure for any car is on that car's own page, and the exact total for your dates - including the bond, any delivery and Young Driver Cover - is confirmed before you pay.

What luxury car hire in Sydney actually costs

Most Sydney prestige companies quote a price that grows at the counter. Ours does not. Every car below carries its daily rate, the damage excess and bond are fixed by tier and printed on this page, and the only thing that changes your total is the cover you choose and where you want the car delivered. The luxury tier starts at $160 a day for the 2017 Range Rover Evoque and tops out at $500 for the 2023 Range Rover Sport. Everything in between is a proper European SUV or wagon with the seats, boot and ride quality the badge promises.

Two things set the luxury tier apart from our exotic and supercar cars. The minimum driver age is 20, not 25, because these are cars a careful driver can manage without special experience. And the included excess is the lowest we offer, $3,000, which also means the smallest bond.

Four Range Rover Sports of four different years and prices sit in this list on purpose. The 2020 car is the only seven-seater of the four. The 2022 is the least expensive Sport at $360 a day. The 2022 and 2023 cars are the ones people photograph, and the 2018 is the gentlest to drive. Read the Range Rover Sport review if you want the differences spelt out before you choose.

Who hires a luxury car in Sydney, and what they pick

A week with visitors

Parents landing at Kingsford Smith, a wedding party from interstate, a client visit that runs five days. The Mascot depot is minutes from the terminal, so the car is waiting when the flight lands, and the seven-seat Range Rover Sport or BMW X5 takes the whole group and the luggage in one trip. For a long hire, ask about the weekly rate: it is always lower per day than seven singles.

The weekend away

Hunter Valley, the Southern Highlands, Jervis Bay. Two to three days, a car with a real boot, and a drive that is part of the point. The Audi Q7 is the quiet one. The Porsche Macan is the one that makes the Putty Road worth taking. The Mercedes GLS is the S-Class of SUVs and behaves like it on the freeway.

The occasion

Formals, engagement parties, a fortieth. A luxury SUV arrives properly and carries six people in the back rows without anyone in a jump seat. For weddings specifically we have a separate wedding car hire page covering timing, matching cars and self-drive versus chauffeured.

The replacement car

If your own prestige car is off the road after an accident that was not your fault, you may be entitled to a like-for-like replacement rather than a base-model hatchback. That is a different service with its own rules, explained on our accident replacement page.

The rules, in plain terms

  • Minimum age 20, with a full unrestricted licence. P-platers and learners cannot drive any of our cars. Drivers aged 20 to 24 pay Young Driver Cover at +25% of the daily hire.
  • Identity check before handover, including a check against the Australian Government Document Verification Service. Bring the physical licence.
  • Kilometres: every booking includes a set allowance shown on your confirmation. Extra kilometres are charged at the rate on the confirmation.
  • Fuel: return it at the level you received it. Most of the luxury fleet is diesel. The petrol cars (2023 Range Rover Sport, 2022 Range Rover Sport and 2019 Porsche Macan) take 98 RON only, and your confirmation says which fuel your car takes.
  • Payment: card, cash or bank transfer on the rental itself. Card payments carry a 2% surcharge; cash and transfer do not.
  • Tolls and fines during the hire are yours.

Bond and excess on the luxury tier

The damage excess on this tier is $3,000, and the bond held on your card is the same figure as whichever excess you choose. It is a pre-authorisation, not a charge: the money is reserved, not taken, and released when the car comes back clean. Three cover options bring the excess down, priced per trip rather than per day:

No coverExcess $3,000, bond $3,000
Basic cover, $60Excess drops to $2,500
Premium cover, $110Excess drops to $2,000
Max cover, $160Excess drops to $1,200

Delivered, or collected at Mascot

Every luxury car lives at our Mascot depot, a few minutes from Sydney Airport, so airport pick-ups are simple: land, message us, and the car is outside. Anywhere else in Sydney, we deliver. The fee depends on distance from Mascot and is quoted with the booking, not sprung on you afterwards. Delivery to the CBD, the Eastern Suburbs and the Inner West is the most common request and the cheapest.

Handover takes about ten minutes wherever it happens. We walk the car with you, photograph its condition, fuel level and odometer, and you sign the record. That record is what protects you when the car comes back.

Price beat guarantee. Found the same car cheaper in Sydney? Send us the written quote and we will match it or beat it by $20 a day. Terms and how it works.

Luxury versus our other tiers

If you came here wanting something louder, the sports and performance tier starts at $400 a day and is also open from age 20 (the M3s excepted, at 25). The exotic tier (G-Wagon, AMG GT, the 2024 M3 xDrive) and the supercar tier (Huracan, McLaren 650S, Ferrari FF) need a driver of 25 or over and carry larger excesses. And if you would rather be driven, six of our cars are available chauffeured.

How we compare. Every Sydney prestige operator's published prices and rules for the same cars are in the Sydney Prestige Car Hire Index, including the lines where we are dearer.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does luxury car hire cost in Sydney?

At Drive Tribe the luxury tier runs from $160 a day for a 2017 Range Rover Evoque to $500 a day for a 2023 Range Rover Sport, with most cars between $225 and $460. These are weekday guide rates; the current daily rate is shown on each car's page; the only additions are optional cover, delivery if you want it, and a 2% surcharge if you pay by card.

What is the minimum age to hire a luxury car in Sydney?

20, with a full unrestricted licence. Most prestige hire companies in Sydney set 25; our luxury and performance tiers accept drivers from 20. Drivers aged 20 to 24 pay Young Driver Cover at +25% of the daily hire. The exotic and supercar tiers need a driver of 25 or over.

How much is the bond on a luxury car?

The bond equals the damage excess on the cover you choose. With no cover it is $3,000. Basic cover ($60 per trip) brings the excess and bond to $2,500, Premium ($110) to $2,000 and Max ($160) to $1,200. It is a pre-authorisation on your card, released after the car is returned undamaged.

Do you deliver luxury hire cars in Sydney?

Yes. Every car can be delivered anywhere in Sydney for a distance-based fee quoted with the booking, or collected free from our Mascot depot near the airport. Blue Mountains, Wollongong and Central Coast delivery is available on request.

Can I hire a luxury car at Sydney Airport?

Yes. Our Mascot depot is minutes from both terminals. Tell us your flight and the car is ready when you land; there is no counter and no shuttle.

Is there a kilometre limit?

Every booking includes a kilometre allowance shown on your confirmation. If you go over, extra kilometres are charged at the rate printed on the same confirmation. Long trips can be quoted with a larger allowance up front.

Can I take a luxury hire car interstate?

Usually yes, with notice at the time of booking so the allowance and insurance can be set for it. Tell us where you are going and we will confirm before you pay.

Do you offer weekly or monthly luxury car hire?

Yes. Weekly and monthly rates are lower per day than the daily rate on this page. Ask for a long-hire quote with your dates.
