Most listings show you one Range Rover Sport and leave you to discover the details on the day. We run four, they are meaningfully different from one another, and choosing the wrong one is the difference between a car that fits your weekend and a car that technically has enough seats.

About these prices. Figures on this page are a guide only: they are indicative from rates, based on weekday winter pricing, and were correct at the time of publishing. Rates move with the season, the day of the week and how long you book for, and longer hires taper. The live figure for any car is on that car's own page, and the exact total for your dates - including the bond, any delivery and Young Driver Cover - is confirmed before you pay.

Tier Luxury

The 2022 is the quickest. The 2020 is the only one that seats seven. The 2023 is the newest and
the one most people picture when they think of the model. The 2018 is the oldest and the gentlest
of the four, a five-seat diesel for people who want the ride and the badge and are not asking it
to be fast. None of that is visible from a listing that just says Range Rover Sport, which is why
we put it here.

If seven seats is the whole question and the badge is not, the
seven-seater comparison sets the 2020 against every other
car we run with a third row.

What It Is Actually Like in Sydney

It is the car that makes distance disappear

Air suspension is the whole story. Sydney roads are worse than they look, and a great deal of
what makes a long drive tiring is the accumulated small impacts rather than the big ones. This car
removes almost all of them.

Range Rover Sport 2023, luxury tier, from $500 a day. See this car

The practical consequence is that a two-hour drive feels like a forty-minute one. It is the
car we recommend for anyone doing the Southern Highlands, the Hunter, or a run up the coast with
passengers who would rather arrive fresh than excited.

Quiet in a way the sportier cars are not

You can hold a normal conversation at highway speed without raising your voice, and someone in
the back can sleep. That sounds like a small thing until you have tried it in a car that cannot do
it. For family trips and client pickups it is the entire point.

City manners are better than the size suggests

It is a large vehicle and it never pretends otherwise, but the visibility is commanding, the
turning circle is better than it has any right to be, and the cameras do the rest. Sydney
multi-storey car parks are the only genuine friction, and only the older tighter ones.

The petrol and diesel are different cars to drive

The petrol cars are smoother and quicker, and the 294kW one is genuinely fast for something
this size. The diesels are torquier low down, which suits towing and long climbs, and they will
go much further between fills. On a week-long trip that difference is worth real money and one fewer
stop each day.

Things You Should Know Before You Book

Seven seats means five adults and two children, honestly

The third row in the 2020 is usable, and it is not a con. But like almost every seven-seater in
this class, the back row suits children, teenagers, or adults for a short trip. Seven adults from
Sydney to Bowral is technically possible and nobody will enjoy the last hour.

The other thing nobody mentions: with the third row up, boot space drops sharply. Seven people
and seven people's luggage are two different bookings. Tell us both numbers and we will be honest
about whether one car covers it.

It is the most likely prestige car to be free

A practical advantage of running four. When the Huracán and the G-Wagon are booked out
on a Saturday in October, this is usually the car that can still say yes. If your dates are fixed
and the exact vehicle is not, start here.

Fuel and size are the running costs

The petrol cars drink more than their size suggests when driven in traffic. The diesels are
markedly better. Neither is expensive to run compared with anything else in the prestige tier, and
both are dramatically cheaper than the supercars.

How It Compares to the Rest of the Fleet

Against the G-Wagon

The G-Wagon is the statement; this is the tool. The G is more recognisable, more dramatic and
considerably more fun to arrive in. The Range Rover is more comfortable, quieter, easier to park
and better on a long drive. For a wedding, the G. For a week with family, this.

Against the Defender

Closer than people assume, and they diverge on refinement. The Defender is more capable when
the road stops and has a more characterful interior. The Range Rover is significantly quieter and
smoother on the motorway. If the trip is mostly highway with a dirt driveway at the end, take the
Range Rover. If the dirt is the point, take the Defender.

Against the GLS

Against the 2020 seven-seater specifically. Both seat seven and both do the job well. The GLS
has the more spacious third row; the Range Rover has the better ride and the stronger badge presence. If the third row is
carrying adults regularly, ask us about the GLS.

The Trips Worth Booking It For

The Southern Highlands

Down the Hume to Bowral, Berrima and Robertson. Ninety minutes of motorway where the air
suspension earns its keep, then genuinely good roads once you are off it. Cold-climate wine
country suits this car exactly.

Airport runs with real luggage

Unglamorous and the most common reason it goes out. Five adults and five suitcases fit without
anyone negotiating, and after a long-haul flight the quiet cabin matters more than anything on the
spec sheet.

A week based somewhere and driving daily

The Hunter, the Blue Mountains, the coast. This is the car for the trip where you will do a
hundred kilometres most days and want none of them to be tiring.

What People Get Wrong About It

They assume all four are interchangeable

The most expensive assumption on this page. Booking a Range Rover Sport and discovering on the
morning that it has five seats when you needed seven is not a small problem, and it is entirely
avoidable. We confirm the exact vehicle before you pay for precisely this reason.

They think diesel means slow

The 2020 diesel makes 221kW and it is still quick enough that nobody has ever complained. The
2018 is the least powerful of the four at 177kW, and it is the one to pick for a relaxed drive
rather than a brisk one. What diesel actually gives you is torque low in the rev range, which is
what you want when the car is full, and range that makes a long trip one stop shorter. On a run to
the Hunter it is the better car, not the compromise.

They underestimate how much the air suspension does

It is easy to read as a luxury feature and it is closer to a safety one on a long drive.
Fatigue accumulates from small impacts, not big ones. Four hours in this car and four hours in a
conventionally sprung SUV of the same size are genuinely different experiences by the time you
arrive, and it is the thing guests remark on most often afterwards.

They plan the luggage last

Worth planning first. Five adults and five large cases fit comfortably in the five-seaters.
Seven adults and seven cases do not fit in anything, including the seven-seater, and that is a
physics problem rather than a Land Rover problem. Tell us both numbers when you book and we will
say honestly whether one car covers it or whether you want two.

Who Actually Books This One

Families who want space without a people mover. Executives who want to arrive without arriving
loudly. And, more than any other car we run, people who tried something more exciting last time
and decided that on a real trip, comfort wins.

It is also our most repeat-booked vehicle, which tells you most of what you need to know. Nobody
photographs it. Everybody books it again.

If the Range Rover Sport is booked

We never move you down a tier. If your dates are taken, these are the luxury cars we will offer instead, and we will tell you plainly if none of them is free rather than substituting something lesser on the day.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I collect it?

Mascot or Parramatta, or we bring it to you. This is the car we deliver most often, usually because it is going straight to a hotel or an airport pickup rather than being collected for fun.

Which of the four will I get?

The one you book. Each has its own booking page, and we confirm the specific vehicle, its year, its seat count and its powertrain before you pay, rather than listing a model and substituting within it. If the one you want is out, we tell you and offer the others.

Do all four seat seven?

No, and this is the most important thing on this page. The 2020 is a genuine seven-seater. The 2018, 2022 and 2023 are five-seaters. If seven seats matter, book the 2020 or say so when booking rather than assuming the badge covers it.

Petrol or diesel?

Two of each. The 2022 and 2023 are petrol; the 2018 and 2020 are diesel. Diesel suits long highway runs and returns better economy. Petrol is smoother and noticeably quicker. For a week in the country, diesel. For a weekend around Sydney, petrol.

What licence and age do I need?

A full licence held for the required period, verified in person at handover, every time. Additional drivers must be listed on the booking and meet the same requirements.

Is there a security bond?

Yes, and the figure is on your booking before you pay. It is a pre-authorisation held against your card, not a charge.

Is there a kilometre limit?

Yes, stated before payment. Extra kilometres are charged at a set rate rather than estimated after the trip.

Can I take it on unsealed roads?

Within reason, and it will handle far more than most people ask of it. Formed dirt roads are fine. Genuine off-road use, beach driving and water crossings are not permitted, and for a car of this value that is a line we hold.

Can I take it interstate?

With prior written approval noted on the booking so the kilometre allowance and roadside cover are correct. This is the car we approve for interstate trips most often.

Can I tow with it?

Only by prior arrangement, and only with equipment we have fitted and checked. The car is rated to tow properly and that is not the constraint; the constraint is that a towbar, the electrics and the load rating all have to be right before a hire, not improvised on the day. Tell us what you are towing when you book and we will tell you whether it is possible.

Are there child seat anchor points?

Yes, and this is one of the most common questions we get on this car. The five-seaters have the usual outboard anchors in the second row. If you are bringing your own seats, say so when booking so we can make sure the vehicle you get has what you need and the handover leaves enough time to fit them properly.

Ready when you are

Tell us your dates and where in Sydney to bring it. We will confirm availability across the tier before you pay.
