Two different bookings share this page. A static shoot parks the car and lights it: a product campaign, a fashion editorial, a music video in a car park at 2am. A driving shoot puts the car in motion: rolling shots from a chase vehicle, a drone pass along the coast, talent behind the wheel for the story. Both are welcome; they are priced and handled differently.
A static shoot lasting a few hours is quoted on request rather than charged as a full day, and one of us can stay with the car for the duration. A driving shoot is a normal self-drive hire: the driver on the agreement must be licensed and verified, the car is insured as on any hire, and the day rate in the table applies. Productions that would rather not put talent behind the wheel of a Huracan can book it with a driver; see chauffeur car hire.

Choosing for the camera
- Supercars. The Huracan and McLaren 650S read as supercar from any angle, including the drone. The Ferrari FF is the long-bonnet V12 shape that works in profile. All three are 25 and over to drive.
- The G-Wagon. The G-Wagon is the most requested car for music videos in Sydney. Upright, square, chrome, and it fills a frame at 24mm.
- The AMG GT. The AMG GT is the choice when the brief says coupe: the longest bonnet in the fleet.
- Performance cars. The 2024 M3 xDrive, Camaro 2SS and Mustang GT suit automotive and streetwear content; the Taycan Turbo is the car for an EV brief.
- Luxury and lifestyle. The 2023 Range Rover Sport for property and fashion; the Defender for anything outdoors.
Colour, interior and detail photographs are on each car page, and we will send extra reference images on request so the art director sees what arrives. Our exotic, supercar and luxury car hire pages describe each tier in full.
Locations that work
After enough shoots you learn where the light and the permits line up. Barangaroo and the Walsh Bay wharves for glass and water at golden hour. The Rocks for texture. Bondi to Bronte for the coast, and the Sea Cliff Bridge for the driving shot everyone wants. Industrial Alexandria and Marrickville for the music video look, and multi-storey car parks in Parramatta and the CBD for lighting control at night. Council filming permits are the production's responsibility. Tell us the location and we will say whether the car can get in: the Huracan and McLaren have very little ground clearance and a steep driveway ends the shoot before it starts.
Plates, branding and what you cannot do with the car
The plates stay on and legible whenever the car is on a public road, including rolling shots; covering or removing them on a road is an offence in New South Wales. On private property, in a studio or in a hired car park you may cover the plates for the frame, and in post-production you may blur or replace them. There is no Drive Tribe branding on any car. Wraps, decals, roof rigs and suction mounts need our written agreement first; a low-tack camera mount on paintwork is normally fine, a drilled rig is not.
The rule that matters most, because it is the one music videos most often push against: no burnouts, drifting, donuts, wheelspin, launch-control abuse, racing or track use on any of our cars, anywhere, including a closed set. It is a prohibited use under the rental agreement. If it happens, damage cover and the excess cap end, you are liable for the full cost of any damage, and a prohibited-use fee of $5,000 or 10% of the car's value, whichever is greater, applies whether or not anything is visibly damaged. Every car has GPS tracking and telematics. Smoke in the shot can be done with a machine; it cannot be done with our tyres. The same applies to unsealed roads, beaches and more people than seatbelts.
Insurance and the bond
The car is insured for road use during the hire; the production carries its own public liability and equipment cover. If the car is damaged, the driver on the agreement contributes the excess for the tier, and the bond equals that excess. The bond is placed for a static shoot too, because paint, wheels and interiors are what get hurt on set. Smoking in the car is $800 and a heavy clean is from $500, so keep the fog machine and the confetti outside the cabin.
Bond and excess
The bond equals your damage excess, and the excess depends on the car's tier and the cover you choose before the trip: $3,000 with no cover on the Lifestyle, Luxury and Performance tiers, $5,000 on Exotic and $10,000 on Supercar, each reducible with Basic, Premium or Max cover priced per trip. The bond is a pre-authorisation on your card, not a charge, released after the car is returned and inspected. The full table, the kilometre rates and everything else that applies are on the rental policy page.
Delivery to location and the handover
We deliver anywhere in Sydney for a fee priced by distance and quoted with the booking; the Blue Mountains, Wollongong and the Central Coast are available on request. The car arrives clean and fuelled, and the handover is photographed with your producer present before the first light is set up. Our hours are 7am to 9pm, so a dawn call means taking the car the night before. Two things save a production day: tell us if talent will drive, so the driver is verified through a trusted third-party provider at least 24 hours before the shoot rather than in the car park, and tell us how far the driving shots run, because a supercar over its kilometre allowance is charged at $15 a kilometre.
Price beat guarantee. Found the same car cheaper in Sydney? Send us the written quote and we will match it or beat it by $20 a day. Terms and how it works.
Need two cars that match, or a convoy?
The Range Rover Sports and the M3s pair up; the G-Wagon leads anything. Tell us the shot list and we will suggest the combination.

The bond held on your card equals the excess of the cover you choose. It is a pre-authorisation, released after return.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost to hire a car for a photoshoot in Sydney?
Daily rates run from $500 for the Ford Mustang GT to $2,600 for the McLaren 650S, and a static shoot lasting a few hours is quoted on request rather than charged as a full day. Delivery to location is priced by distance and shown with the quote.
Can we hire a car for a music video?
Yes. The G-Wagon, the supercars and the AMG GT are the most requested cars for music videos in Sydney. The one firm rule is no burnouts, drifting, donuts or wheelspin, on set or off: it is a prohibited use that removes damage cover and triggers a prohibited-use fee.
Can we cover or remove the number plates?
On private property, in a studio or a hired car park, yes, and you can blur or replace them in post. On a public road the plates stay on and legible, including during rolling shots; covering them on a road is an offence in New South Wales.
Can we do driving shots?
Yes, as a normal self-drive hire: the driver on the agreement must hold a full licence, be verified through a trusted third-party provider before the day, and meet the car's minimum age, which is 25 on the supercars, the G-Wagon, the AMG GT and every M3. A chauffeur-driven option is available if the production prefers not to put talent behind the wheel.
Do you deliver the car to the shoot location?
Yes, anywhere in Sydney for a distance-based fee quoted with the booking, and further afield on request. The car arrives clean and fuelled and the handover is photographed with your producer present.
Does someone stay with the car during the shoot?
For a static shoot, yes if you want it; one of us can remain with the car for the duration, which suits a supercar on a public street. For a driving shoot the verified driver is responsible for the car as on any hire.
Is the car insured on set?
The car is insured for road use during the hire as on any booking, and the driver contributes the excess if it is damaged. The production is responsible for its own public liability and equipment insurance. The bond held on the card equals the excess for the car's tier and cover.
Can we put a wrap, decals or a camera rig on the car?
Only with our written agreement first. A low-tack suction camera mount on paintwork is normally fine; drilled rigs, wraps and adhesive decals need to be discussed before the day.
