Honda hire in Sydney at Drive Tribe means one car, and you do not drive it: a 2014 Honda City sedan that comes with a professional Drive Tribe driver and is quoted per job. It is a sensible, economical way to get to the airport, an appointment or home from a night out without driving or parking, and when the occasion calls for more, the rest of our chauffeured line-up is one phone call away.

What Honda hire with Drive Tribe actually means

Most of our fleet is prestige and performance cars you drive yourself. The Honda City is the exception. It is chauffeur-only, so when you book it you are booking a transfer: our driver, our car, your destination.

We want to be straight about what that is. A 2014 Honda City is a comfortable, well-built small sedan with a good reputation for reliability. It is not a luxury car, it will not turn heads outside a hotel, and nobody should book it expecting that. What it does well is get people where they need to go, calmly and on time, without anyone in the group having to drive.

That makes it the most modest car on our chauffeured line-up, and for a lot of trips it is exactly the right one. If the job is an early flight, a medical appointment or getting three friends home after a long lunch, the car matters far less than the driver turning up when they said they would.

If you came here looking for a Honda to drive yourself, we do not offer one. The full fleet lists every self-drive car we have, and further down this page we cover the self-drive alternatives that suit people who were thinking of a Honda.

Why a Honda, and why the City

Honda built its name on engineering that simply keeps working: engines that last, sensible packaging and cars that are easy to live with. That reputation is why so many are still on Australian roads years after they were sold, and why the badge suits a car that does steady, everyday work.

The City is Honda's small sedan, sold across Asia and Australia as a step up from a hatchback. It shares its basic layout with Honda's small cars but adds a proper boot and a roomier back seat, which is exactly what you want in a car that carries passengers and their bags.

It is not quick and it is not trying to be. A small four-cylinder petrol engine drives the front wheels, and the whole car is tuned for comfort and economy rather than excitement. For a transfer, those are the right priorities.

It is also a 2014 car, and we do not dress that up. For a transfer, what counts is a comfortable seat, a quiet ride and a driver who knows the roads. The City covers the first two as well as most small sedans, and our drivers cover the third.

The Honda in our fleet

Honda City (2014), chauffeur only

The Honda City 2014 is a four-door sedan with 88 kW and 145 Nm driving the front wheels, and a range of around 690 km on a tank. Those figures will not impress anyone at the lights, but they are more than enough for motorway merges and city traffic, and the range means the car can do a long day of jobs without stopping.

Inside, it is simple and clean. The dashboard is uncluttered, the seats are comfortable for the kind of trips it does, and the back seat has more legroom than the car's size suggests. The boot is generous for a small sedan, so two passengers with suitcases for a week away is a realistic load.

It sits on the Lifestyle tier and is based at Merrylands, in Sydney's west. You cannot hire it self-drive: a Drive Tribe driver always drives it, and each job is quoted on its own. Because you are a passenger, there is no bond, no licence check and no age limit.

What it is not good at is presence. If the trip is about arriving, a wedding, a formal or a client you want to impress, step up to one of the cars further down. If the trip is about getting there, the City is a sensible choice.

How a chauffeured Honda City transfer works

Booking a transfer is simpler than booking a self-drive car, because there is no licence to verify and no bond to hold. The quote covers the job from start to finish.

  1. Tell us the job. Pick-up address and time, destination, number of passengers and roughly how much luggage. If there is waiting time or a return leg, say so.
  2. Get a quote. Chauffeur-only cars are quoted per job, with the driver included. Tolls during the booking are in the quote, so there is nothing added afterwards.
  3. Confirm. Once you accept, the job is booked and the time is locked in.
  4. Ride. The driver brings the car to your pick-up and stays with it for the booked window. You sit in the back and do nothing.

You can ask for a quote by phone, by message from the car page, or through our chauffeur car hire page. For regular trips, tell us the pattern and we can quote them together.

When the Honda City is the right car

These are the trips where a modest, economical chauffeured sedan makes more sense than anything flashier.

  • Airport runs: an early departure or a late arrival without airport parking or asking a friend. Tell us the flight and terminal when you ask for the quote.
  • Medical and hospital appointments: useful when you should not drive afterwards, or when parking near a hospital is the hardest part of the day.
  • Getting home after an event: a wedding reception, a long lunch or a work function where nobody in the group should be driving.
  • Parents and grandparents: a reliable lift to family events for relatives who no longer drive, with a driver who waits rather than rushes.
  • Business in the west: getting between meetings in Parramatta and the city without losing an hour to parking. See corporate car hire in Parramatta.

In every one of these, the thing that matters is the driver arriving on time and the ride being comfortable. The badge on the bonnet is secondary.

When to step up: the rest of the chauffeured line-up

Sometimes the car is the point. For a wedding, a milestone or a client you want to impress, these are the cars people move up to from the City, including two self-drive options for groups who would rather have one of their own behind the wheel.

Tesla Model X P100D, chauffeur only

The blue Tesla Model X is the natural step up for a transfer. It is silent, quick and has seven seats, so a group or a family arrival fits in one car. The falcon-wing doors make it memorable at a wedding or an event. Like the City, it is chauffeur-only and quoted per job. For airport work in particular, see Tesla Model X airport transfers.

Mercedes-AMG G63, chauffeur only

The black Mercedes-AMG G63 is for arrivals that need to be seen: weddings, formals, red-carpet events and VIP pick-ups. A twin-turbo V8, 430 kW and a shape everyone recognises. It is chauffeur-only and quoted per job, so passengers of any age can ride in it.

Mercedes-Benz S500 L, self-drive

The silver Mercedes-Benz S500 L is the long-wheelbase S-Class, with a rear seat built for stretching out and air suspension that smooths out Sydney's roads. It is self-drive only, not chauffeured, with a minimum age of 25. It suits a family where one verified driver in the group is happy to drive the others in real comfort.

Mercedes G-Wagon, self-drive or chauffeured

The white Mercedes G-Wagon is a 2018 AMG G63 that can be booked either way: self-drive for drivers aged 25 or over, or with a Drive Tribe chauffeur, quoted by the hour with the driver included. A good choice when you want the G-Class presence and some flexibility in how the day runs.

Toyota Kluger GX, self-drive

The white Toyota Kluger GX is not a step up in prestige, it is a step up in space. A smooth V6, seven seats and room for a family's luggage, open to drivers from 20 and based at Merrylands like the City. It is self-drive only, so it suits a family who would rather drive themselves for a week than book separate transfers.

Ferrari FF, self-drive or chauffeured

The white Ferrari FF is as far up as the step goes: a four-seat V12 grand tourer with all-wheel drive, 486 kW and 683 Nm. It sits on the Supercar tier, so self-drive is for drivers aged 25 or over, and it can also be booked with a chauffeur, and with a driver it makes a wedding-day car few guests forget. It is based at Mascot.

Which car for which job

  • One to three people, an everyday trip: the Honda City.
  • A group of up to six, or an airport arrival that should feel special: the Tesla Model X with a driver.
  • A wedding party, a formal or a VIP pick-up: the Mercedes-AMG G63, or the white G-Wagon with a chauffeur.
  • A couple on their wedding day: the Ferrari FF with a chauffeur.
  • Parents in limousine comfort, with a family member driving: the S500 L.
  • A family who want their own car for a week: the Toyota Kluger.

For the day that matters, our luxury car hire with a driver page shows the full chauffeured range side by side.

Chauffeured or self-drive: which makes more sense

A chauffeured transfer is not always the right answer, and we would rather say so than sell you the wrong booking.

A chauffeur makes sense when the trip is short or one-way, when nobody should drive afterwards, when parking at the other end is expensive or impossible, or when the people travelling do not hold a licence. You pay for the driver's time, but you do not deal with fuel, tolls, parking or the drive home.

Driving yourself makes more sense for several days, a road trip, or a lot of short stops. A self-drive car sits with you for the whole booking, which is usually better value over a long period than a series of separate transfers.

If you cannot decide, tell us the trips you have in mind and we will tell you which approach fits.

If you step up to a self-drive car: booking, ID check and bond

The Honda City needs none of this, because you are a passenger. If you choose one of the self-drive cars instead, this is how it works. How it works has the full detail.

  • Booking: choose dates, pick-up or delivery, and a booking type: Flexible (refundable in full more than 72 hours before pick-up), Saver (cheaper, non-refundable) or Instant (confirms on the spot, non-refundable). The total, the bond and the excess are on screen before you commit.
  • Payment: card, cash or bank transfer for the rental, with a card stored on every booking because the bond needs one.
  • ID check: a link from a trusted third-party provider asks you to photograph your licence and take a live selfie, and the document is checked against the Australian Government Document Verification Service. Complete it at least 24 hours before the trip.
  • Bond: a pre-authorisation hold on the stored card, not a charge, equal to the damage excess for your booking. Released after the car is returned and inspected.
  • Licence: full licence only. Overseas licences need an International Driving Permit or an accredited English translation unless already in English.

Self-drive cars can be collected from their base or delivered anywhere in Sydney, priced by suburb and shown in the booking total. If your chosen car is unavailable, we never move you down a tier.

Common Honda City trips around Sydney

With the car based at Merrylands, these are the jobs it does most. Tolls during a chauffeured booking are in the quote, so the route is our driver's problem, not yours.

Western Sydney to the airport

From Parramatta, the Hills or the south-west to the domestic or international terminals. Allow extra time in the morning peak, and tell us if you are carrying more luggage than usual. See car hire at Sydney Airport for the bigger cars. On the way home, the driver takes the stress of the airport roads off you after a long flight.

Parramatta and Westmead

Short runs to the Parramatta CBD and the Westmead hospital precinct, where parking is the hardest part of the trip. A driver drops you at the door and collects you when you are done.

Into the city

Western Sydney to the CBD for a meeting, a show or dinner. The driver deals with the traffic and the parking, and you arrive without having looked for a space.

Sydney Olympic Park

Concerts, sport and the Showground. Traffic around big events is slow, and being dropped at the gate and collected afterwards beats queueing for a car park exit.

Early mornings and late nights

First flights out and late finishes are when a booked driver earns their keep, because those are the hours when nobody wants to drive and a lift is hardest to find. Book ahead rather than on the night, and check the pick-up time again the day before.

Tips for booking a chauffeured transfer

  • Give exact addresses: including a unit number, gate code or the name of the building entrance.
  • Allow a buffer: for flights and appointments, build in time for traffic rather than cutting it fine.
  • Count bags, not just people: the City is a small sedan with a good boot, but four passengers each with a large suitcase is too much. Tell us and we will suggest a bigger car.
  • Mention young children: tell us when you ask for the quote so we can confirm the right arrangements before the day.
  • Say if plans might change: if a return time is uncertain, tell us so the quote reflects it.

The more we know at quote time, the more accurate the quote and the smoother the day. If something changes after you book, call us as early as you can; a changed pick-up time is easy to handle the day before and much harder ten minutes after the driver has left.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I hire a Honda in Sydney and drive it myself?

Not from Drive Tribe. Our only Honda, a 2014 Honda City, is chauffeur-only: a Drive Tribe driver always drives it and each job is quoted separately. If you want a sensible car to drive yourself, look at the self-drive cars on our fleet page, such as the Toyota Kluger.

How is a chauffeured Honda City priced?

It is quoted per job, with the driver included. Tell us the pick-up, the destination, the time, the number of passengers and any waiting or return leg, and we give you a fixed quote before you book. Tolls during the booking are included.

Is there a bond or an ID check for the Honda City?

No. Because you are a passenger and our driver does the driving, there is no bond, no licence check and no ID verification for you. Those only apply if you choose a self-drive car.

Is there an age limit to book a chauffeured Honda City?

There is no age limit for passengers on a chauffeured booking, because nobody in your group is driving. That makes it useful for younger travellers, for parents and grandparents who no longer drive, and for anyone without a licence.

Can the Honda City do airport transfers?

Yes, it is one of its most common jobs. Tell us your flight and terminal, the number of passengers and how much luggage you have. For larger groups or more bags, the seven-seat Tesla Model X is the chauffeured step up.

How many passengers and bags fit in the Honda City?

It is a small sedan, so up to four passengers, with three across the back best kept to shorter trips. The boot is generous for its size. Tell us the luggage when you ask for a quote and we will confirm it fits or suggest a bigger car.

Are tolls included on a chauffeured transfer?

Yes. Tolls during a chauffeured booking are included in the quote, so there is nothing added afterwards. On self-drive bookings, tolls and fines are the driver's responsibility.

Can I book the Honda City for a wedding?

It suits wedding guests who need a lift home, but it is not a bridal car. For the couple, most people choose the chauffeured Mercedes-AMG G63, the Tesla Model X or the Ferrari FF, which can all be booked with a Drive Tribe driver.

Where is the Honda City based?

At Merrylands, in Sydney's west. That makes it well placed for Parramatta, Westmead, the Hills and the south-west, and it travels anywhere in Sydney for a job. The quote takes the distance into account.

Is the Honda City a luxury car?

No, and we will not pretend it is. It is a comfortable, economical and reliable small sedan, ideal for everyday transfers. If you want a luxury car with a driver, step up to the Model X or the G63.
