A Bankstown formal is a group event before it is an individual one, and the car booking reflects that. The useful question is not which car you want but what six people together can afford and who among the adults involved is going to drive it, because that second part eliminates most of the fleet for most groups.

Price it for the group
Tell us how many cars and the date. Multi-car bookings are priced and held as a set rather than as separate hires.
Who Is Driving Decides Which Cars Exist
Every formal conversation should start here, because it removes most of the fleet for most groups and there is no point falling in love with a car that is not available to you.
The minimum driver age is 20 on the general fleet with a full licence. On the Exotic and Supercar tiers it is 25. Both are hard stops at checkout.
A Year 12 student is 17 or 18. They are not driving. An older brother who is 21 can drive the Range Rovers, with Young Driver Cover at +25% of the daily hire added, but cannot drive the Huracan or the McLaren. A parent over 25 can drive anything with no Young Driver Cover at all.
The fourth option, and the one that resolves it cleanly, is chauffeured. Six cars in the fleet can be booked that way: the Mercedes-AMG GT, the G-Wagon, the Lamborghini Huracan, the McLaren 650S, the Ferrari FF and the BMW M3 Competition G80 xDrive. With a chauffeur, nobody needs a licence and nobody carries the excess.
The Per-Head Number Is the Real Number
A formal car looks expensive as a single figure and reasonable as a per-person one, and South West Sydney groups are generally good at working this out.

Three matched Range Rover Sports carry fifteen people. Whatever the hire comes to, divided fifteen ways, is a different proposition from one student hiring a two-seat supercar alone.
The general rule that falls out of this: seats are what make a formal car affordable. The cars with the most seats are in the Luxury tier rather than the Exotic one, which conveniently is also the tier with the lower minimum driver age.
So the cheapest arrangement and the easiest arrangement are the same arrangement, which does not happen often.
Where a group wants one genuinely special car, the efficient version is one chauffeured exotic doing the arrival and the photographs, with matched SUVs carrying everyone else. The photograph is the thing people remember and it only requires one car to exist.
A Convoy Has to Be Organised to Look Like One
Three or four cars arriving together is the effect, and it does not happen by itself.
Cars that leave the house together do not arrive together. One set of lights, one slower driver, one wrong turn, and the convoy spreads across ten minutes. By the time the third car reaches the venue the group from the first has gone inside and the moment is over.
The technique is a staging point. Pick somewhere a couple of minutes from the venue, have every car go there first, wait until all of them have arrived, then go in as a group. It costs five minutes of the evening and it is the entire difference between a convoy and three unrelated arrivals.
Give every driver the venue address directly. A convoy that relies on following the car in front breaks at the first amber light, every time.
Matching Matters More Than Value
If the group is booking multiple cars, matched beats expensive.
Photographs of a convoy are taken from the side, and from that angle what registers is silhouette and colour rather than badge. Three identical cars read instantly as a deliberate set. Three different premium cars read as a car park, even if each one individually costs more.
We can put together up to four genuinely matched Range Rover Sports. Beyond four, cars can be co-ordinated but not identical, and we will tell you which you are getting rather than letting the group find out on the night.
The other half is that they have to be booked together. Cars held as a set go out as a set. Cars booked separately are separate hopes that happen to fall on the same date.
The Afternoon Is Where the Photographs Are
Formal groups consistently overrate the venue arrival and underrate the afternoon, and it is worth correcting because it changes what you book.
The arrival lane at the venue gives you under a minute, with a queue behind and a crowd watching. It produces one or two usable photographs.
The afternoon at somebody's house, cars parked on the driveway, nobody waiting, produces most of the pictures that actually get kept. There is space, there is time, and the cars are stationary so people can be photographed properly rather than in a moving line.
Because hire is priced by the day rather than by the hour, that afternoon is included rather than extra. Choose the house with the best driveway and the most room, not the one closest to the venue.
Late Finishes and Who Drives Home
The end of the night needs a decision made in advance rather than at eleven o'clock.
If the booking is self-drive, the nominated driver has to be fit to drive at the end. A parent who has been at home is fine. An adult who has been out for the evening is a different question, and it is better asked in October than on the night.
A chauffeured booking removes this entirely, which is a genuine part of what the chauffeur price buys and worth weighing rather than dismissing.
The third pattern, and a common one, is that the cars do the arrival and then go home, with the group making its own way back afterwards. That is the cheapest version and it works, provided everybody knows that is the arrangement before the night.
Booking
Our depots are at Parramatta and Mascot, so a Bankstown formal is normally a delivery, priced by distance and shown up front with the hire, the bond and any Young Driver Cover.
The bond is a hold on a card, not a charge. The damage excess is $5,000. In a booking split six ways, make sure every parent involved has heard that number.
November and December weekends are the most contested dates of the year, because formal season and wedding season overlap. If your date is set, check availability now rather than in October.
Two Cars or One Better Car
Almost every large group reaches this fork, and it is worth being explicit about the trade rather than deciding it by whoever argues hardest.
Two or three matched luxury cars gets everybody in a car, arrives as a convoy, splits cheaply per head, and can be driven by any adult over 20. What it does not do is produce the single photograph that a supercar produces.
One exotic gets that photograph and carries two to four people, requires a driver over 25 or a chauffeur, and costs considerably more per person because there are fewer people to divide it between.
The version that satisfies both, and the one we would suggest for a group of eight or more, is one chauffeured exotic plus matched SUVs. One car produces the arrival image, the others carry everyone, and the cost of the exotic is spread across the whole group rather than the two people sitting in it.
What does not work well is several different premium cars with no relationship to each other. From the side, which is how convoy photographs are taken, they read as a car park rather than a set.
Booking Around the HSC
Year 12 formals sit after the HSC written exams, which compresses an entire cohort of Sydney schools into November and December.
Those are the same weekends wedding season wants, which makes November the busiest month of the year across this fleet by a clear margin.
So the useful time to check a date is before the exams finish rather than after. A group that starts looking in the last three weeks is competing with every other group doing the same thing, and by then the cars with the highest demand have generally gone.
If the school has announced the date, that is enough to ask. There is no cost to checking early and the answer shapes everything else.
If the group is hiring a photographer for the afternoon, book the cars for the same window rather than for the evening alone. A photographer working a driveway with three matched cars and no time pressure will produce more usable images in forty minutes than anyone will get in the sixty seconds available at the venue door, and the day rate means those hours are already part of what you are paying for rather than an extra on top.
The Lamborghini, the McLaren and the AMG GT are the cars named most often for a south-west arrival, and they are sourced by request rather than held on our own lot. The supercar formal arrivals page lists the wider catalogue, including the Ferrari 488 and the Lamborghini Urus for a group that needs five seats.

If the Range Rover Sport is booked
We never move you down a tier. If your dates are taken, these are the luxury cars we will offer instead, and we will tell you plainly if none of them is free rather than substituting something lesser on the day.
Three matched Range Rover Sports
- 3 cars
- 15 seats
- Min age 20
- Best per head
Fifteen seats across three identical cars. Split across a group this is the cheapest way to arrive in something, and a parent over 20 can drive them because they are not exotics.
Ferrari FF, chauffeured
- Chauffeured
- 4 seats
- No age issue
- Rare
An exotic with four seats, and one of the six we can run chauffeured. Four students arrive in a Ferrari with nobody needing a licence and nobody carrying the excess.
Check the date before you plan around it
November and December weekends go months out. We will tell you honestly what is left rather than taking the booking and hoping.
Guide rates, weekday winter pricing. Longer hires taper; the exact total for your dates is shown before you pay.
The bond held on your card equals the excess of the cover you choose. It is a pre-authorisation, released after return.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can students drive the cars themselves?
No. The minimum driver age is 20 with a full licence, and 25 for anything in the Exotic or Supercar tiers. It is enforced at checkout rather than being a preference. A parent, an adult family friend, or a chauffeured booking are the three ways this works.
What is the cheapest way for a group to arrive in something good?
Matched luxury SUVs split across the group, almost every time. Three Range Rover Sports carry fifteen people and are not in the exotic tier, so the driver only needs to be 20 rather than 25 and there is no supercar premium on the hire.
Can we have one supercar for the photos and cheaper cars for everyone else?
Yes, and it is the arrangement we would suggest for a large group. One chauffeured exotic for the arrival and the photographs, and matched SUVs carrying the rest. You get the picture without every person paying supercar rates.
How does paying work if six of us are splitting it?
One booking, one payment method, and the group settles up privately. We cannot split a hire across six cards. Pick one person to book, ideally one whose parent is happy to be on the booking, and note the booker does not have to be the driver.
What happens if the car gets damaged?
The damage excess is $5,000, which caps what a damage claim can come to. It is shown with the bond and the hire price before you pay. It is worth every parent in a split booking knowing that number in advance rather than afterwards.
Is there a surcharge for a young driver?
Young Driver Cover is +25% of the daily hire for any driver under 25. It does not apply if the driver is over 25, which is the simplest saving available on a formal booking.
