About these prices. Figures on this page are a guide only: they are indicative from rates, based on weekday winter pricing, and were correct at the time of publishing. Rates move with the season, the day of the week and how long you book for, and longer hires taper. The live figure for any car is on that car's own page, and the exact total for your dates - including the bond, any delivery and Young Driver Cover - is confirmed before you pay.

The Four Daily Rates, Exactly

No ranges, no starting-from figures. This is what each car costs per day.

The stock F80 Competition: $400 a day. The Stage 1 tuned F80: $530 a day - a $130 premium for roughly 150 more horsepower, though the choice between them is still about which car suits you rather than budget, covered in our stock versus tuned comparison.

The G80 Competition, rear-wheel drive: $700 a day. The G80 Competition xDrive: $850 a day - the $150 gap reflects the all-wheel-drive hardware and the car's greater capability, covered in our xDrive comparison.

Longer hires taper rather than multiplying the daily rate in a straight line - a weekend or a week costs meaningfully less than the daily figure multiplied out, so tell us the real duration you are considering and we will price it properly rather than you estimating from the day rate alone.

Young Driver Cover: +25% of the Daily Hire, Conditionally

If the named driver is under 25, Young Driver Cover applies at +25% of the daily hire, on top of whichever car's daily rate applies. It does not apply at all if the named driver is 25 or over.

This is worth factoring into group bookings specifically. If several people are splitting the cost of a car and one of the eligible drivers is over 25, naming them as the primary driver removes this cost from the total - a genuine and straightforward saving worth arranging deliberately rather than by accident.

The Damage Excess: $5,000, Consistently

All four M3s carry the same $5,000 damage excess. This is the maximum figure a damage claim can reach - it caps your exposure rather than being an additional fee you pay regardless of what happens.

It is shown alongside the bond and the hire price before you pay, and it is worth every driver on a booking understanding clearly what it means before they get behind the wheel, particularly on a car worth considerably more than the excess itself.

The Bond: Not a Charge

The bond is a hold placed on a card, not money taken from your account. It is released once the car is returned in the condition agreed at handover. This is worth understanding clearly, because "bond" language sometimes gets confused with an actual charge - it is not one, provided the car comes back as it went out.

Excess Kilometres: $4 or $7 Per Kilometre, Depending on Tier

Each hire includes a kilometre allowance, and driving beyond it incurs a per-kilometre charge that differs by tier: $4 per kilometre on the Performance-tier F80s, $7 per kilometre on the Exotic-tier G80s.

For most single-day hires and the routes covered in our best Sydney roads article, the standard allowance is generous enough that this rarely becomes relevant. If your plan involves an unusually long drive - genuinely exploring the Blue Mountains region beyond the direct route, for instance, as covered in our dedicated piece on that drive - mention it when you book so we can confirm the allowance suits, or adjust it in advance rather than you discovering an excess charge on return.

Delivery: Priced by Distance, or Free If You Collect

Both F80s are based at our Parramatta depot. Collecting from there rather than requesting delivery removes this cost from your total entirely, and it is worth considering specifically if you are trying to keep the overall figure as low as possible.

The G80s' base location and delivery pricing follow the same general principle - priced by distance from wherever the car is kept, and avoidable by collecting directly.

Working Out Your Actual Total

Put together, a single day with the stock F80, driver over 25, collecting from Parramatta, within the standard kilometre allowance: $400 plus the bond hold, with the $5,000 excess as your maximum exposure rather than a charge.

A driver aged 22 cannot hire an M3; the minimum is 25 on every one of them.

A weekend with the G80 xDrive, driver over 25, delivered rather than collected: $850 a day with the weekend taper applied, plus delivery, which we will quote exactly based on your address.

These are illustrative rather than a substitute for an actual quote - tell us the specific car, dates, driver age and delivery requirement, and we will give you one final number rather than a range to estimate from.

No Hidden Costs Beyond These

Beyond the items above, fuel - covered honestly in our fuel consumption article - and any tolls incurred during the hire are the driver's responsibility, as they would be with any hire. Everything else that could reasonably form part of the cost of hiring one of our four M3s is listed on this page.

How the Taper Actually Works

Worth explaining rather than just asserting, since "longer hires taper" is not very useful without a sense of the shape.

A single day is priced at the full daily rate. A weekend - typically two to three days - is priced below the sum of the individual daily rates, reflecting that a longer commitment from one hirer is more efficient for us to manage than several separate short hires. A week extends that discount further, and a month further again. The exact figures depend on the specific car and dates, which is why we quote them directly rather than publishing a fixed formula, but the principle holds consistently across all four M3s.

The practical lesson, covered from a different angle in our piece on testing an M3 before buying one, is that booking the actual length of time you want at the outset is nearly always cheaper than booking short and extending, because an extension prices from where it starts rather than being folded into one longer, better-priced hire.

A Full Worked Example, Start to Finish

To make the whole picture concrete: a 23-year-old wanting the stock F80 for a Saturday and Sunday, delivered to an address roughly ten kilometres from Parramatta, staying well within the standard kilometre allowance.

The hire itself: the weekend rate for the F80, which tapers below $800 for the two days rather than being a straight $400 multiplied by two. No Young Driver Cover, because an M3 driver is 25 or over by definition. Delivery: a modest fee reflecting the ten-kilometre distance, quoted exactly at booking. The bond: a hold on a card, not part of the running total. The $5,000 excess: not a charge unless something goes wrong.

Add those together and you have a single, complete number before the car ever arrives - which is the entire point of this article existing rather than a vaguer "from $450" figure that leaves most of the actual cost unexplained.

Comparing the Total, Not Just the Headline Rate

When comparing our pricing against another operator, it is worth checking that you are comparing the same total rather than just the headline daily figure. Some hire businesses quote a low base rate and add compulsory fees at checkout that are not obvious upfront. Every number on this page - the daily rate, Young Driver Cover, the excess, delivery, excess-kilometre charges - is disclosed here specifically so there is nothing left to discover later.

Why We Publish Every Number Rather Than Just a Starting Price

Most hire businesses lead with a low headline figure precisely because it looks better in a search result or an advertisement, even though very few actual bookings end up costing exactly that number once age, delivery and duration are factored in. We would rather you arrived at an accurate expectation from this page than a flattering but misleading one, even if the complete picture is a less punchy number to lead with.

Getting a Quote Without Commitment

You do not need to commit to a booking to get an exact quote. Tell us the car, dates, driver age and delivery requirement, and we will give you the complete number with nothing left out, whether or not you go ahead. There is no cost or obligation attached to asking, and it is genuinely the fastest way to know your real total rather than working through this article's worked example against your own specific situation.

Call, message, or ask when you next speak with us about anything else - there is no formal process required to get a straight answer. Whether you are still deciding between cars, working out a budget for a specific date, or simply curious what a particular scenario would cost, treat it as an open question rather than something you need to have fully decided before reaching out. That is genuinely how we would prefer these conversations to start, rather than someone arriving already committed to a date and car before checking whether the total actually fits their budget. There is genuinely no wrong time to ask. We would always rather answer a question from someone still deciding than have them guess and end up disappointed by a total they had not properly worked out in advance.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the four M3 daily rates?

$400 for the stock F80 Competition, $530 for the Stage 1 tuned F80, $700 for the G80 Competition, and $850 for the G80 Competition xDrive.

What is Young Driver Cover and when does it apply?

It does not arise on an M3: every M3 needs a driver of 25 or over. On the Mustang, Camaro and Taycan it is +25% of the daily hire for a named driver under 25.

What is the damage excess?

$5,000 across all four cars. This is the maximum a damage claim can come to, shown with the bond and hire price before you pay.

What is the bond, and is it a real charge?

A hold on a card, not a charge. It is released after the car is returned in the agreed condition, rather than being money spent.

What happens if I drive further than the included kilometres?

Excess-kilometre charges apply beyond the included allowance: $4 per kilometre on the F80s (Performance tier) and $7 per kilometre on the G80s (Exotic tier).

Does delivery cost extra?

Yes, priced by distance from whichever depot the car is based at. Both F80s are at Parramatta, so collecting rather than being delivered removes this cost entirely for those two cars.
