The bookings we take around Bankstown for these cars have a distinct shape. They are rarely about the car and almost always about the number of people - an extended family that does not fit in one ordinary vehicle, an airport run with everyone's luggage, a trip south where two cars would be a nuisance and one big one solves it.

Tell us how many people and how much luggage
Those two numbers decide the car far more reliably than anything else. Give us both and we will tell you what actually fits.
These Bookings Are About People, Not Cars
There is a clear pattern to what gets hired around Bankstown, Padstow, Revesby, Yagoona and Punchbowl, and it is not really about the vehicle at all.
It is about a number. Six people. Eight people. A family that does not fit in one ordinary car and does not want the nuisance of taking two. An airport run where everyone plus everyone's luggage has to arrive in one movement. Grandparents, cousins and a boot full of things, heading somewhere for a weekend.
Once that is the actual problem, the useful questions change. Not which car is nicest, but how many seats, how much luggage, and whether those two numbers are compatible - which, more often than people expect, they are not.
The Seats-Versus-Luggage Problem
This is the single most common planning error on these bookings and it is worth being blunt about.

A seven-seat SUV seats seven people. It does not simultaneously carry seven people's luggage. With the third row upright, the boot in essentially every seven-seater on the market reduces to a space that will take a few soft bags and not a great deal else. That is not a criticism of any particular car; it is simply where the third row physically goes.
The third row itself is comfortable for children and teenagers over a long trip, and comfortable for adults over a short one. Seven adults doing three hours each way with luggage is a different proposition to seven people going across town.
So tell us both numbers at booking. Seven people and seven small bags is fine in an X7. Seven adults with proper suitcases for a week is not, and there are better answers.
When the Carnival Is Simply the Right Answer
Worth saying plainly even though it is the least glamorous car in this part of the fleet.
If there are more than seven of you, or seven of you with real luggage, the eight-seat Kia Carnival solves the problem that the prestige seven-seaters do not. Sliding doors, which matter enormously in a tight car park with children. Eight actual seats. And a boot that genuinely swallows a family's worth of luggage rather than pretending to.
Nobody books it for the look of it. Almost everybody who books it once books it again, because it is the car that makes the day work. For an airport run in particular it is not a close contest - the X7 is the nicer vehicle and the Carnival is the one that gets eight people and their suitcases to the terminal without a second trip.
If the occasion genuinely matters as much as the logistics - a wedding, an arrival that is part of the event - then the X7 or a Range Rover is the right call, and we will say so. Most of the time around here, the logistics are the point.
What These Cars Are Allowed to Do
The boundary, stated plainly.
Permitted use is sealed roads and formed dirt roads. That covers most national park access roads, rural property driveways and maintained gravel - which is to say, nearly everything an ordinary trip involves. Not permitted is genuine off-roading, beach driving, water crossings and rock work.
The Defender in particular would manage a great deal more than that, and the honest framing is that the limit is the cover rather than the car. If your trip genuinely requires driving on sand or fording water, a specialist off-road operator is the right choice, and that holds true across this market rather than being a quirk of our terms.
Heading Southwest
Bankstown is a practical starting point for anything going south or southwest, which is where a lot of these trips end up.
The Southern Highlands, a couple of hours down. The South Coast. Canberra. Occasionally further, into Victoria, which is where interstate approval and a properly sized kilometre allowance stop being paperwork and start being the difference between a clean trip and an unexpected charge.
The kilometre allowance sits on your booking before you pay. For a long trip, tell us the itinerary and we will size it to match rather than leaving you to find an overage at the end. Interstate needs prior written approval noted on the booking so the allowance and the roadside cover are correct for where you are actually going.
More Than One Driver
On a long family trip this comes up constantly and it is worth handling properly at booking rather than informally on the day.
Every person who will drive needs to be named on the booking and needs to independently meet the age and licence requirements. An unnamed driver is not covered, even for a short stretch to give someone a rest, and that is exactly the situation where it matters most.
The minimum age on this tier is 20 with a full unrestricted licence - not the 25 that applies to our Exotic and Supercar cars. Young Driver Cover (+25% of the daily hire) applies if any named driver is under 25, and the youngest named driver determines whether it applies to the booking as a whole. All of it is shown with the hire price before you pay rather than added afterwards.
Towing, and Why to Ask First
This comes up more around here than anywhere else on the suburb grid, usually attached to a trailer, a boat or a move, and it is worth being straightforward about.
Towing is not something to assume and turn up with a trailer for. It has to be arranged with us in advance, it depends on the specific car, and it is not available across the fleet - several of the prestige SUVs are not set up for it at all regardless of what the manufacturer's brochure says the model is capable of. Turning up with a loaded trailer and discovering the car has no towbar fitted is a genuinely bad morning, and it is entirely avoidable with one message.
So if towing is part of the plan, raise it at enquiry rather than at handover. Tell us what you are towing and roughly what it weighs, and we will tell you plainly whether it is possible, which car it would need to be, and what it costs. Sometimes the answer is no, and it is better to have that answer a fortnight out than on the day.
The same logic applies to anything else that changes the shape of the hire: a roof box, a bike rack, a load that needs the seats permanently folded. All of it is straightforward when arranged in advance and all of it is a problem when it surfaces in the driveway.
Delivery Across the Southwest
Our depots are Parramatta and Mascot, and we deliver across Bankstown and the surrounding suburbs rather than expecting you to collect. Delivery is priced by distance and shown alongside the hire and the bond before payment.
For a trip with an early start, or one that involves loading a lot of luggage and several people, delivery the evening before is worth asking about. It costs the same and it means the loading happens at your pace rather than in a rush on the morning you are trying to leave.
The Practical Points
The bond is stated on your booking before you pay, held as a pre-authorisation on a card rather than charged, and released once the car comes back in the condition it left in. Roof boxes and bike racks are arranged in advance rather than fitted on the day, which is worth remembering if the luggage maths is tight.
Dogs are fine with a cover and a conversation first - boot covered, dog restrained while the car is moving, and the car returned clean. Hair is the single most common reason a cleaning charge gets raised on these hires, and it is entirely avoidable with a boot liner.
Child seats are worth mentioning at booking too. Anchor points vary between these cars, and on a full seven-seater the combination of seats, people and luggage is far easier to solve in advance than in a driveway.

If the BMW X7 is booked
We never move you down a tier. If your dates are taken, these are the lifestyle cars we will offer instead, and we will tell you plainly if none of them is free rather than substituting something lesser on the day.
Kia Carnival GT-Line
- 8 seats
- Sliding doors
- Huge boot
- Min age 20
The honest answer whenever there are more than seven of you. Nobody books it for the look of it and almost everybody who does books it again.
BMW X7
- 7 seats
- AWD
- Real boot
- Min age 20
Seven seats without giving up the prestige end of the fleet. The one to book when the occasion matters as much as the capacity.
Delivered across the southwest
Bankstown, Padstow, Revesby, Yagoona, Punchbowl. We bring it to you and collect it afterwards.
Guide rates, weekday winter pricing. Longer hires taper; the exact total for your dates is shown before you pay.
The bond held on your card equals the excess of the cover you choose. It is a pre-authorisation, released after return.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many people can I actually fit?
Seven in a seven-seat SUV, or eight in the Kia Carnival. The honest caveat is luggage: with a third row up, the boot in almost any seven-seater takes a few soft bags and no more. Tell us both numbers - people and bags - and we will tell you what genuinely works.
Which is better for an airport run, the X7 or the Carnival?
The Carnival, almost always, and it is not close. Sliding doors in a tight airport car park, eight seats, and a boot that actually swallows a family's luggage. The X7 is the nicer car; the Carnival is the one that solves the problem.
Where can I take a hired 4WD?
Sealed roads and formed dirt roads, covering most national park access roads and rural properties. Not permitted is genuine off-roading, beach driving, water crossings and rock work. The cars would manage more; the cover is what sets the limit.
Can I take it interstate?
With prior written approval noted on the booking so the kilometre allowance and roadside cover are right. Bankstown is a sensible starting point for anything heading southwest, and the Defender and Range Rover are the two we approve most often for long trips.
What is the minimum driver age?
20 with a full unrestricted licence on this tier, rather than the 25 that applies to our Exotic and Supercar cars. Young Driver Cover (+25% of the daily hire) applies to any driver under 25, and it is shown with the hire price rather than added afterwards.
Can more than one person drive it?
Yes, provided every driver is named on the booking and meets the same age and licence requirements. On a long family trip this is worth sorting at booking rather than assuming - an unnamed driver is not covered, even for a short stretch, and the youngest named driver determines whether Young Driver Cover applies.
