- Delivered across Sydney
- Bond and fees shown before you pay
- Never swapped to a lesser car
A Tesla Model 3 Performance can hit 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds, yet the number that surprises most Sydney renters is not acceleration, it is the bond. We break down what a Tesla rental really costs in Sydney, from the refundable bond to kilometres and charging, so you know exactly what you are paying for before you book.
See the full cost before you book
Every rate, bond and inclusion is shown on the car page and in your booking total. No hidden fees, no counter surprises.
Why the Tesla rental cost in Sydney is not just the daily rate
When people ask about tesla rental cost sydney, they usually mean the daily rate. That is the headline number, and it is the easiest to compare. But the daily rate is only one line in the total. The bond, the kilometre allowance, charging, and how you collect or receive the car all change what you actually pay.
We run a small, specific Tesla fleet in Sydney. Every car is self-drive or chauffeur-driven depending on the model, and every booking shows the full cost before you pay. No surprise fees at the counter, because there is no counter. You book online, we confirm, and the car comes to you or you collect it from its base.
This article walks through each cost component in plain terms. If you want to see live rates and availability, the Tesla hire Sydney hub is the place to start.
The bond: refundable, but real
A bond is not a fee. It is a hold or a charge that is returned after the car comes back in the same condition. We set the bond per vehicle, and it appears in your booking total before you pay. The exact amount is shown on each car's page.
Why have a bond at all? A Tesla Model 3 Performance makes 370 kW and 660 Nm. A Model X P100D makes 568 kW and 967 Nm. These are serious performance cars, and the bond reflects that. It also covers things like a lost key card, a kerbed wheel, or a charging cable that does not come back.
What we actually see: most renters get the full bond back within a few business days. The common deductions are minor, a scraped alloy or a missing charge cable. Treat the car like your own and the bond is a non-event.
Kilometres: what is included and what is not
Every booking includes a kilometre allowance. The allowance is set per booking and shown on the car page. If you go over, there is a per-kilometre rate, also shown before you pay. We do not hide it in fine print.
Sydney driving is mostly short. A weekend trip from Parramatta to the Northern Beaches and back is well within a typical allowance. A run to the Hunter Valley or the South Coast can push it, so plan ahead. If you are doing a longer drive, tell us at booking and we can confirm the allowance that fits.
For a sense of how far a Tesla can go on one charge, the Model 3 Performance has a 567 km range, the Model Y RWD has 466 km, and the Model X P100D has 465 km. Those are official figures, not real-world guarantees, but they give you a baseline for planning.
Charging: the cost that catches people out
Charging is the one cost that varies most between renters. If you charge at home or at a free destination charger, your charging cost can be close to zero. If you rely on Superchargers, you pay Tesla's rates at the time of charging.
We do not add a charging surcharge. You pay for what you use, either by returning the car at the same charge level or by letting us handle it. The exact policy is on each car page. The simplest approach: return the car at the same state of charge you received it, and charging costs you nothing extra.
Sydney has a good Supercharger network. The ones we use most are at Broadway, Alexandria, and Macquarie Park. There are also plenty of third-party fast chargers around Parramatta and Merrylands, where our cars are based.
That chart shows the performance spread across the fleet. The Model X P100D is the quickest at 3.1 seconds, the Model 3 Performance is 3.3 seconds, and the Model Y RWD is 5.9 seconds. All three are fast by any standard, but they cost differently to run and to rent.
Delivery versus collection: the convenience line
We deliver anywhere in Sydney, or you can collect from the car's base suburb. The Model 3 Performance is based in Parramatta. The Model Y and Model X are based in Merrylands. Collection is usually the lower-cost option because there is no delivery component.
Delivery is popular with tourists and with anyone whose first stop is the airport or a hotel. If you are visiting Sydney and want the car waiting, read Visiting Sydney? Why a Tesla Rental Beats the Airport Counter. It covers the practical side of arriving and driving away.
For local renters, collection from Parramatta or Merrylands is straightforward. Both are well connected by train and have charging nearby if you want to top up before you return.
Which Tesla costs what, and why
Our fleet has three real cars today, plus one arriving soon. Each has a different cost profile because each is a different machine.
- Model 3 Performance (2020): dual-motor AWD, 370 kW, 660 Nm, 0-100 in 3.3 seconds, 567 km range. Self-drive, minimum driver age 20. Based in Parramatta. Has Track Mode.
- Model Y RWD (2025): rear-wheel drive, 220 kW, 420 Nm, 0-100 in 5.9 seconds, 466 km range, five seats. Self-drive, minimum driver age 25. Based in Merrylands.
- Model X P100D (2017): chauffeur only, never self-drive. Seven seats, 568 kW, 967 Nm, 0-100 in 3.1 seconds, 465 km range, AWD, Ludicrous mode, falcon-wing rear doors. Based in Merrylands.
- Model Y L (arriving 26 Sep 2026): six seats, long wheelbase, dual-motor AWD, 378 kW, 590 Nm, 0-100 in a claimed 5.0 seconds, WLTP range 681 km. Self-drive, delivered anywhere in Sydney. Book via the Tesla hub page.
The Model 3 Performance is the driver's car. I have taken it over the Spit Bridge climb and the way it puts power down out of tight corners is the reason it costs more than a standard EV. The Model Y RWD is the practical one, with five seats and a lower entry point. The Model X P100D is the only chauffeur option, so you are paying for a driver as well as the car. The Model Y L, when it lands, will sit between the Y and the X on space and price.
What else can add to the total
Beyond the daily rate, bond, kilometres and charging, a few other things can affect your final cost. We list them on the car page so there are no surprises.
- Additional drivers: if you want a second person on the policy, there may be an added cost. It is shown at booking.
- Young driver surcharge: the Model 3 Performance has a minimum age of 20 and the Model Y has a minimum age of 25. If you are near the minimum, check the car page for any age-related conditions.
- Cleaning: return the car in a reasonable state. Excessive cleaning is charged at cost, and the rate is on the page.
- Infringements: tolls, fines and parking tickets are passed on at cost. We do not add a markup.
- Late return: if you are running late, tell us. We can often extend the booking, and the extension rate is shown in your booking.
None of these are hidden. They are part of the booking total before you pay.
How to keep your Tesla rental cost down
The biggest lever is the car you choose. The Model Y RWD is the lowest-cost way into the fleet. The Model 3 Performance costs more because it is a different class of car. The Model X P100D is chauffeur-only, so it is a different service entirely.
The second lever is charging. If you can charge at your accommodation or at a free charger, your charging cost drops to near zero. If you rely on Superchargers, budget for it. The third lever is kilometres. Stay within your allowance and there is nothing extra to pay.
The fourth lever is collection versus delivery. Collecting from Parramatta or Merrylands avoids the delivery component. If you are already in western Sydney, that is an easy saving.
If you are comparing a Tesla to a petrol performance car for a weekend, Tesla Rental vs Petrol Performance Car: The Weekend Cost, Line by Line does the comparison properly. The short version: charging is cheaper than petrol, but the rental rate and bond are where the real differences sit.
What the total actually looks like
We cannot put a single number on a Tesla rental in Sydney because it depends on the car, the duration, the kilometres and the charging. What we can do is show every component before you pay. The daily rate, the bond, the kilometre allowance, the delivery option and any extras are all in the booking total.
That is the honest answer to tesla rental cost sydney. It is not one number, it is a set of numbers, and all of them are visible. If you want to see them for a specific car, start with the Tesla hub and pick the model that fits your trip.

And if you are planning a longer run, Sydney to the South Coast in a Model 3 Performance: One Charge or Two? answers the charging question for that route.
Booking with us versus a generic rental counter
We are not a generic rental counter. We run a small Tesla fleet, we know each car, and we deliver anywhere in Sydney. That means the person you deal with knows the difference between a Model 3 Performance and a Model Y RWD, and can tell you which one suits your trip.
It also means the cost structure is simpler. No fuel levies, no airport surcharges, no upselling at the desk. The rate, bond and every fee are shown on the car's page and in the booking total before you pay.
If you are hiring for a photoshoot or content, Teslas for Photoshoots and Content in Sydney: Which Model Photographs Best covers which car looks best on camera. The Model X P100D with its falcon-wing doors is the obvious pick, but the Model 3 Performance in Track Mode has its own appeal.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does a Tesla rental in Sydney actually cost?
It depends on the model, how long you need it, and how far you drive. The daily rate, bond, kilometre allowance and any delivery or extras are all shown on the car page and in your booking total before you pay. There is no single number because the fleet has different cars at different rates.
Is the bond refundable?
Yes. The bond is returned after the car comes back in the same condition. It covers things like lost key cards, kerbed wheels or missing charging cables. Most renters get the full bond back within a few business days. The exact amount is on each car page.
How many kilometres are included?
Each booking includes a kilometre allowance, and the amount is shown on the car page. If you go over, there is a per-kilometre rate, also shown before you pay. For longer trips, tell us at booking and we can confirm the right allowance.
Do I have to pay for charging?
You pay for what you use. If you return the car at the same charge level you received it, charging costs you nothing extra. If you rely on Superchargers, you pay Tesla's rates at the time. We do not add a charging surcharge.
Can I collect the car instead of having it delivered?
Yes. Collection is from the car's base suburb: Parramatta for the Model 3 Performance, Merrylands for the Model Y and Model X. Delivery is available anywhere in Sydney. Collection usually avoids the delivery component of the cost.
Is there a minimum age to rent a Tesla?
For self-drive, the Model 3 Performance has a minimum driver age of 20 and the Model Y has a minimum driver age of 25. The Model X P100D is chauffeur-only, so there is no self-drive age rule. For the Model Y L, age and licence requirements are confirmed at booking.
